Writing

My prolific writing career and path has covered everything from California State University campus news, feature stories and announcements, Kern County news and profile and lifestyle content, faith-based devotions and captions, brand and marketing management to other non-profit work and organizations. It also spans over a variety of platforms including traditional publication, online and website hosts, blogs and social media platforms. I love the art of storytelling, whatever the medium may be and being able to express it through the written word, especially.

Photography

Through the years, I’ve covered a variety of subjects and events, including university student life and speaking engagements, church services and special events, community gatherings, concerts and portrait sessions for families and the occasional individual.

Now, my primary focus is lifestyle photography, focusing on things, like: Scenery, architecture, weddings (and receptions), food, travel and more. I like to highlight the in between moments that people often miss. I like capturing sunlight, reflections and tiny details that are often overlooked.

I am open to working with families for candid-style, in your environment type sessions (think Christmas cards or other celebratory occasions), for brands or companies and others who might need assistance but don’t want to spend their entire budget on photos.

Social Media & Digital Strategy

I am the lead social media manager of our California State University, Bakersfield main profiles, including Facebook, LinkedIn, X and Instagram. I strategize, plan, create and schedule content, while collaborating with campus community and community partners for special events, programs and academic calendar, as needed. This also includes planning reels, using trending ideas and music and thinking creatively to film and direct any necessary b-roll or interviews. I am the lead contact for keeping others informed and aware of trends, best practices and tools to use, for campus efforts and plans. It also entails creating social media tool kits for events, like Raising for Runners Giving Day, commencement ceremonies, orientations, Future Runner Day and more (with graphics, photos, captions, email copy and other materials used to promote).

Digital strategy also includes the marketing and email campaigns through digital monthly newsletters for the university (Walter W. Stiern Library, Athletics, the Office of Marketing and Communications, the College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Engineering, and others as programs, departments and others see fit).

Throughout my 5 years of experience in digital and social media creation, I have worked with news outlets, non-profit organizations, including faith-based institutions, authors promotion of book launch campaigns, brand management teams and others.

I am also open to freelance special projects, including wedding content, author campaigns or something else that you might have in mind for a one-time campaign.
